Morisan – Soufflé Dreams in a Tiny Pastry Café

On days when I get tired of cafés, I tend to wander off in search of a little bakery to switch things up. That’s how I stumbled upon Morisan — a sweet little discovery. The shop sits on the upper floor of an old apartment building on Trần Quốc Thảo Street, sharing its space with a cocktail bar called . Sounds like a strange combo, but together they create a unique vibe — cozy, friendly, yet a bit mysterious in that speakeasy kind of way.

🌿 The space – Small but cozy

Morisan is quite small, basically an old apartment turned into a bakery. Inside, it’s softly lit with warm yellow lights, wooden interiors, and a tiny bar counter with only about five seats — which were already full when I arrived. If you want that bar-seat experience, definitely book ahead. Note: the shop limits each guest to a maximum of two hours, probably to keep the flow of customers fair and manageable.

🍰 Menu – Thoughtful and varied

Because it shares space with a cocktail bar, Morisan’s menu is a bit more diverse than your average bakery.

  • Soufflé Pancake – The signature Thick, fluffy, and eggy with a gentle sweetness. Topped with rich cream cheese and a sprinkle of cinnamon crumble for a light crunch. What I loved most was that it wasn’t overly sweet — indulgent without being overwhelming. One portion is quite big, enough to fill you up, and at 75,000 VND, it’s honestly a steal.
  • Matcha Chiffon Cake Simple but elegant. Soft, airy, with a light matcha aroma, paired with fresh cream and strawberries on top. Perfect for a slow afternoon tea.

🥤 Drinks

Of course, you can always order from Nè’s full alcohol menu 😛. But to keep the tea-time vibe, I went for mango tea and rose tea. Both were light and subtle in flavor — not too strong, which made them pair nicely with sweet cakes. If you prefer something richer, they also have chocolate, cacao, and matcha options.

Final thoughts

Morisan isn’t the kind of place with a “perfect” concept or over-the-top design. But it’s the kind of spot that just feels good to come back to — fair prices, warm little space, cute cats, and genuinely delicious cakes.
