Spritz Italian Kitchen: Simple, Authentic, and Uncompromising

If you are looking for authentic Italian flavors in Ho Chi Minh City, Spritz is a place worth trying. It is important to note that its authenticity may not fully align with a traditional Vietnamese palate.

We started with the Insalata di gamberi, a well executed salad featuring fresh rucola, grilled prawns, shaved parmesan, and balsamic vinegar. The dish was clean, refreshing, and nicely balanced, making for a pleasant start without being overly complicated.

The spaghetti agli scampi was one of the highlights of the meal. The sauce delivers a rich umami flavor from fresh prawn roe, creating a creamy and slightly fatty depth that feels very true to Italian cooking. This dish is quite different from the seafood pasta commonly found in Vietnam. It is bold, distinctive, and delicious, but may feel unfamiliar if you prefer lighter or sweeter flavors.

For the main course, the chicken parmigiana stood out for its texture. The breaded chicken breast was crispy on the outside and tender inside, with no dryness at all. The tomato sauce and melted mozzarella were classic, comforting, and well balanced.

Dessert was fondente fritto e gelato, a fried chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream. It was rich but not overwhelming, pleasantly sweet, and not greasy. A very satisfying way to end the meal.

In terms of drinks, the Coffee Boulevardier cocktail was honestly underwhelming and not particularly enjoyable. The signature cocktail was acceptable but did not stand out, despite being positioned as a house specialty.

Service throughout the experience was very good. The staff were attentive, warm, and professional. The space itself is small, tastefully elegant, quiet, and chill, making it suitable for a relaxed dinner or an intimate conversation.

Overall, Spritz delivers genuinely authentic Italian cuisine executed with care. Just keep in mind that its true Italian flavors may feel a little strong or unfamiliar if you are expecting something adapted to Vietnamese tastes.
